Marcia Eckerd, Ph.D.

I help people with anxiety and social problems.

I work with people of all ages who struggle with social understanding, anxiety, flexibility and emotional control, whether or not they are diagnosed as “on the spectrum,” Asperger’s or NLD.  People might have no diagnosis or many.

People’s lives and problems aren’t simple. I address the entire picture of family, school or work demands, life stressors and co-existing conditions such as ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders and LD.

I use CBT, social coaching, meditation and individualized creative techniques.

I find creative ways to help my clients. With my experience in neuropsychological testing and therapy, I have a deep understanding of the issues they face.

I use enhanced cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), social skills coaching, meditation training, collaborative problem solving, as well as using innovative techniques such as EMDR, video teaching and biofeedback.

I provide coaching to parents and partners, consultation to schools as well as parent and professional training.

I have been a licensed psychologist since 1985.

In addition to my work as a therapist, I am on the CT ASD Advisory Council, the Associate Staff in psychiatry at Norwalk Hospital, and the Professional Advisory Board of Smart Kids with LD.

I blog for Psych Central on Divergent Thinkers and write frequent articles for SmartKidsWithLD as well as other sites.
