Sara Taussik

Director of Programs & Training

Sara is a licensed and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and professional counselor who has been working with the autism population for over 14 years. Her work includes inpatient behavioral health, development & facilitation of social skills training, and teaching special education within the private sector. Being a director at ASRC has fulfilled her passion for educating the public through training educators, first responders, and law enforcement officers. Sara also facilitates social and therapeutic groups at ASRC.

In addition to her commitment to her work at ASRC, Sara has a private counseling practice with a focus on ASD and LGBTQI+ intersectionality. In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, doing CrossFit, making art, and going on adventures of all kinds.

Francesca Logan

Director of Recreation

Francesca is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) who works with people of all abilities at all stages of life to enhance their quality of life. She holds a B.S. in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Southern Connecticut State University. Francesca was awarded the Bridgeport Hospital Quality Award for advocating, creating, and implementing an individualized plan for patients with autism in a hospital setting.

Francesca enjoys spending time with her children outdoors, doing activities such as hiking, snowboarding/skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, archery, and biking. She also likes to partake in different forms of fitness such as barre, yoga, dancing, jujitsu, Krav Maga, and weightlifting. Some of Francesca’s hidden talents are knitting, sewing, soap & candle making, cooking, and creating art.

Rachel Varvatsis

Program Coordinator

Rachel is the director of ASRC’s Learning From Our Littles & Elementary programs. She also facilitates our 12 & Under support groups for parents/caregivers, performs administrative support, assists in training, and provides guidance for use of ASRC’s Professional Resource Guide.

Rachel obtained her B.S. in Education and A.S. with a focus in Psychology.  She has received her CNA certification and Mindfulness Coaching Certificate. Rachel is currently pursuing training and certification to help families specifically with ASD.  She has additional experience in the private and public education system, ECE administration, business management, family & child advocacy, and technology marketing skills.

Outside of the office, Rachel works diligently to enjoy the little successes of life with her family, the calmness of meditation, and the therapeutic benefits of crafting and chalking with her daughter. As a mother, she understands the value of support, encouragement, and advocacy at an early age. Rachel is always willing to connect with families and professionals to offer support or suggest resources as they navigate their journey with ASD.
