Autism Families CONNECTicut, Inc. (AFC)

Autism Families CONNECTicut was founded in 2010 by a mother and grandmother of a child with autism, to fill a void of available recreational and social programming for children with autism. Over the last ten years, Connecticut families have relied on AFC for providing such valuable programs.

Now more than ever, it is crucial that the autism community has access to social and recreational activities, to help reduce the increase of pandemic-related isolation and anxiety within this vulnerable population. Thanks to our generous supporters and fundraising, AFC is extremely fortunate to be able to continue providing these weekly virtual programs free of charge.

Virtual Program details include:

Playing on the Spectrum, AFC’s signature program, now offered Saturday mornings virtually via Zoom, engages children in an interactive play-based format that provides fun movement activities such as yoga, basic sports skills, music and physical fitness.

Building on the Spectrum, Individuals of all ages will be encouraged to share their creativity, practice problem-solving skills, and make social connections with peers using LEGO and other building mediums.

Teen Nights, this music and movement based program gives teens loads of opportunities to socialize, establish and maintain virtual social connections, and have fun while participating in themed activities such as music, dancing, and trivia…just to name a few!

Young Adult Hangouts, is “the place to be” for young adults on the autism spectrum who are looking for some fun, games, and good laughs! Hangouts are a fun and social evening that include conversation, social activities, and games with friends.
