Sharon Golder, BS & 30 Special Education: Sharon was a certified special education teacher for 8 year, has 14 years of experience as a consultant supporting students with disabilities, their families and school district personnel. As owner and Director of Educational Consultants of Connecticut (ECCONN), she has provided training and technical assistance to more than 75 school districts on behalf of students with a wide range of disabilities. Her focus is on the creation of high quality programs that produce positive outcomes for students with disabilities while maintaining compliance with educational laws and regulations. She worked for 3 years as a consultant at the University of Connecticut Center on Developmental Disabilities where responsibilities included providing training and technical assistance to school districts and families to increase compliance with the PJ v State of Connecticut class action lawsuit. She was responsible for collecting and analyzing data and disseminated results to stakeholders. She served as President of Connecticut Council for Exceptional Children in 2010, and as an executive board member from 2009-2011. She has extensive training and experience in assistive technology, augmentative and alternative communication, data-based decision making, development of Individual Education programs (IEPs) and person centered planning . She also has expertise in special education law and assisted numerous districts to increase compliance with the Individual with Disabilities Education Act, resulting in a reduction in litigation and increase in collaboration between families and school district personnel.
