The mission of the Gengras Center is to help their students reach their full potential by facilitating learning, social communication, and independence for students ages 5 to 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities, like autism and other related challenges.
ACEcing Autism is a national non-profit organization which specializes in tennis training programs tailored to meet the unique needs of children on the Autism Spectrum.. Founded in 2008, the organization has grown over the past 10 years to include over 60 program locations across the country. In June 2018, they rolled out the first chapter in Connecticut of ACEing Autism. Through this program, the organization offers participants the opportunity to learn more about the game of tennis, build confidence and social skills, while having some fun. This program is run by trained tennis professionals, with support from volunteers to give one-on-one support to each child participating in the training. Their team is excited to rollout an 8-week ACEing Autism North Haven program running from October to December. All dates for this 8-week program are listed below: • October 13, 2018 • October 20, 2018 • October 27, 2018 • November 3, 2018 • November 10, 2018 • November 17, 2018 • December 1, 2018 • December 8, 2018 Every Saturday, sessions will be held from 11:00-12:00 pm for children ages 5 to 10 and another session from 12:00-1:00pm for children ages 11 to 18.
