CT BUDGET PRESS CONFERENCE – 77,500 IN CT LOSING HEALTH CARE

DATE: Tues. Oct 10, 2017 TIME: 11 AM

PLACE: LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING – First Floor - Room 1B [Park in the back lot] 300 Capitol Ave, Hartford Ct [Across from the State Capitol]

The proposed cuts to the CT Medicaid program are severe, and we do not believe that the public and our elected leaders are fully aware of the magnitude of these cuts, and their impact on children, families & communities. We are here to urge Governor Malloy and our legislators to consider broad bolder revenue options before allowing 77,500 CT residents lose health care coverage with the passage of this budget.

The number of people cut off of Medicaid: *****68,000 low income elderly and disabled lose all of their coverage under the Medicare Savings Programs *****9,500 low income HUSKY A parents lose Medicaid These cuts could be avoided or mitigated if the Governor and the Legislature included a more balanced, robust revenue approach- A .5% increase on high income earners would go a long way in preventing 77,500 CT residents from losing their health care.
