Masonicare at Ashlar Village

Wallingford, CT 06492

ASRC and Autism Speaks are teaming up to present
National and Connecticut experts sharing their best practices for transitioning individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders into the adult world.

Autism prevalence has risen to crisis proportions with the CDC estimating 1 in 68 have ASD and it is not surprising that we are now experiencing a surge of young people with ASD transitioning to adulthood. Based on U.S. Census data and ASD prevalence estimates, over a half million youth with ASD will turn 18 over the next decade. Unfortunately, they are entering a health and social service system that is largely unprepared for them. It is imperative that families start preparing for transition and this forum will present tools and information to help navigate the complexities of navigating transition.

Parents will now have the opportunity to split into 3 groups dependent on the support needs and diagnosis of their family member and will receive specific transition information.
